Nebius

Software engineer in stream processing

In short

This senior backend engineering role at an AI cloud infrastructure company involves building and operating stateful streaming pipelines (Go services) that compute billed consumption in near real time for a billing platform. The team works on correctness under failures, transactional storage, persistent queues and change data capture at high throughput. It requires strong backend/streaming engineering fundamentals and experience with databases or event-processing systems; Flink, Kafka Streams, Go and Kubernetes experience are a plus. The role is office-based (onsite) in the Netherlands.

About Nebius
Nebius is leading a new era in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy. We are building a full-stack AI cloud platform that supports developers and enterprises from data and model training through to production deployment, without the cost and complexity of building large in-house AI/ML infrastructure. Built by engineers, for engineers. From large-scale GPU orchestration to inference optimization, we own the hard problems across compute, storage, networking and applied AI.
Responsibilities
•Build stateful streaming pipelines that compute billed consumption in near real time.
•Develop and operate Go services that ingest usage events, move data between our storage systems and deliver consumption data to users through usage APIs and billing data exports.
•Guarantee correctness under failures: idempotency, exactly-once processing and reconciliation.
•Operate transactional storage, persistent queues and change data capture under high throughput.
•Build reusable streaming infrastructure rather than solving each use case independently.
•Improve the reliability, scalability, latency and observability of the billing platform.
•Take end-to-end ownership of your systems: design, implementation, reliability and deployment.
Requirements
•Strong software engineering fundamentals.
•Professional experience building and operating backend, streaming or data-intensive systems.
•The ability to reason about consistency and data correctness under failures.
•Experience with databases, messaging systems or event-processing platforms.
•The ability to investigate unfamiliar systems and solve problems without an obvious predefined solution.
•The ability and willingness to learn the team's technology stack.
Nice to have
•Experience with a stateful stream-processing framework such as Apache Flink or Kafka Streams.
•Experience designing streaming pipelines.
•Go development experience.
•Experience operating services in Kubernetes.
Conditions
•Competitive compensation
•Career growth and learning opportunities
•Flexibility and ownership
•Collaborative and innovative culture
•Opportunity to work on impactful AI projects
•International environment and talented teams
•Fast moving - Bold thinking - Constant growth - Meaningful impact - Trust and real ownership - Opportunity to shape the future of AI
