Positron AI

Senior FPGA Design Engineer (AI)

In short

This role owns FPGA designs end-to-end, from microarchitecture through lab-based silicon validation, for networking and digital logic functions on FPGA and ASIC targets. The company builds AI hardware and needs someone who can bring up FPGA–firmware–software systems and drive cost/power/performance trade-offs. It requires 5+ years of FPGA/ASIC design experience, strong SystemVerilog RTL skills, and hands-on work with high-end Intel and Xilinx AMD FPGAs. The position is fully remote within the United States.

About the Role
You will own FPGA designs from microarchitecture through lab-based silicon validation. You will design, implement, test, release, and support networking and digital logic functions for FPGA and ASIC targets. You will build FPGA prototypes, bring up systems combining FPGA, firmware, and software, and analyze trade-offs across cost, power, performance, and features.
Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
•5+ years of FPGA and/or ASIC design and implementation experience
•Proficiency in SystemVerilog RTL coding
•Experience designing, testing, delivering, and supporting customer-shipped FPGAs or ASICs
•Experience with high-end Intel and Xilinx AMD FPGAs
•Knowledge of modern ASIC and FPGA design and verification tools
•Practical experience with microarchitecture, RTL coding, timing and power optimization, simulation, and validation
Responsibilities
•Create and release FPGA designs through microarchitecture, RTL design, physical implementation, timing closure, simulation, and lab-based silicon validation
•Define, design, implement, test, release, and support networking functions for FPGA and ASIC targets
•Partner with software, verification, and system architecture stakeholders to implement digital logic functions
•Build FPGA prototypes to validate architectural and design alternatives before silicon commitment
•Bring up and test systems combining FPGA, firmware, and software
•Drive trade-off analysis across cost, size, power, performance, and features
Benefits
•Fully company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents
•Company-paid life and disability coverage
•Supplemental hospital, critical illness, and accident coverage
•Unlimited paid time off
•13 paid company holidays
•Remote-first work arrangement
