# Senior Data Engineer / Technical Product Manager, Data Platform
At Viaplay Group, we entertain millions of people every day through our streaming services, radio networks, and TV channels. We believe in the power of content not just as a way of telling stories and touching lives, but also expanding worlds.
We're looking for the best people to join us on our journey. Right now, we're searching for a Senior Data Engineer/Technical Product Manager, Data Platform in our Stockholm office.
The Role
As a Senior Data Engineer / Technical Product Manager, Data Platform, you will shape the future direction of Viaplay's data platform and help expand its role across our technology landscape.
Our Databricks platform is already a critical enabler for analytics, reporting, and machine learning. We believe it can play a larger role in how software is built at Viaplay, powering operational use cases, real-time data products, platform integrations, and new capabilities across engineering teams.
In this role, you will combine strong technical expertise with product thinking. You will work closely with engineering leaders and development teams across the organization to understand their challenges, identify opportunities, and translate them into platform investments and technical capabilities.
While you are expected to stay hands-on and contribute as an engineer, your primary responsibility is to drive the platform's strategy, roadmap, and adoption. Success in this role is measured not only by what the team builds, but by how effectively the platform creates value across the wider organization.
What You Will Be Doing
•Own and drive the product vision and roadmap for Viaplay's data platform
•Partner with engineering leaders to understand challenges, identify opportunities, and uncover new platform use cases
•Expand the adoption of Databricks beyond traditional analytics and reporting workloads
•Identify platform gaps and proactively propose solutions that create value for Viaplay
•Contribute hands-on to architecture discussions and engineering initiatives when needed
•Support the continued modernization of our data ecosystem and migration away from legacy platforms
•Act as a trusted advisor to engineering and business stakeholders on data platform strategy and architecture
•Mentor and guide engineers within the Data Platform team
What We're Looking For
We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that's why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you'll have experience in the following:
•Extensive experience in Data Engineering, Data Platforms, or related technical disciplines
•Experience working with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar technologies
•Strong understanding of data architecture, data product and modern platform thinking
•Experience defining roadmaps, prioritizing investments, and driving product strategy for technical platforms
•Ability to engage with senior engineering stakeholders and influence decisions across organizational boundaries
•A proactive mindset with a demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and drive initiatives from idea to implementation
•Excellent communication skills and the ability to bridge the gap between engineering, data, and business domains
It's a bonus if you have:
•Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and modern Lakehouse architectures
•Experience enabling operational and customer-facing use cases from data platforms
•Experience building ML platforms, feature stores, or AI-enabling data capabilities
•Previous experience as a Technical Product Manager, Platform Product Manager, Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or similar role
What We Offer You
•30 days of paid vacation every year, an attractive pension and insurance scheme, and generous parental leave pay lift
•Various wellbeing initiatives including wellness allowance
•A hybrid model with at least three days a week in the office, giving you the best mix of collaboration and focus time
•A learning culture that puts you in the driver's seat of your own development
•An innovative environment with Hack Days once a year — a week-long initiative to think outside the box and deliver creative, technical solutions, which often go on to be implemented in the product or ways of working
•Unlimited access to Viaplay, including serier & viewing events, new release movie rentals, linear channels and more
