We are looking for a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to join a large-scale modernization project focused on transforming legacy .NET services into a modern, cloud-native architecture using .NET 10, Microsoft Azure, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
The project involves extensive refactoring of the XiO Cloud platform, with a strong emphasis on code quality, architectural consistency, infrastructure reliability, and efficient software delivery.
In this role, you will combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership, taking ownership of code reviews across application development, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD pipelines. You will work closely with engineers of different experience levels, ensuring that implementations follow established architectural patterns, engineering standards, and security practices.
A significant part of the role will involve reviewing complex pull requests, identifying potential risks, and providing constructive technical guidance to the development team.
Key Responsibilities
•Conduct thorough technical reviews of complex pull requests covering .NET/C# application code, Terraform infrastructure, and CI/CD pipeline configurations.
•Ensure code quality, technical correctness, architectural consistency, and adherence to established engineering standards.
•Review Terraform configurations, module structures, state management practices, and infrastructure changes to identify potential risks.
•Evaluate GitHub Actions workflows, deployment configurations, and automation processes for reliability, security, and maintainability.
•Identify infrastructure drift, security vulnerabilities, breaking configuration changes, and potential deployment issues before production releases.
•Contribute to the improvement and standardization of Terraform conventions, reusable modules, and CI/CD practices.
•Mentor engineers through constructive code review feedback, technical discussions, and pair programming.
•Participate in hands-on development and maintenance of .NET services, Azure infrastructure, and deployment automation.
•Support the modernization and migration of legacy .NET services to .NET 10 running on Azure Kubernetes Service.
•Leverage AI-assisted development tools to support engineering productivity and code review processes.
Requirements
•7+ years of professional software engineering or cloud engineering experience, with strong hands-on expertise in Microsoft Azure.
•Advanced Terraform expertise, including Infrastructure as Code, reusable module design, state management, infrastructure planning, and code review.
•Strong experience with GitHub Actions, including reusable workflows, self-hosted or managed runners, secrets management, OIDC authentication, and environment-based deployment controls.
•Solid experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), including deployment automation and release management using Octopus Deploy or comparable tools.
•Strong working knowledge of C# and .NET, with the ability to review application code, identify implementation issues, and evaluate compliance with architectural standards.
•Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), including deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of containerized applications.
•Experience reviewing complex pull requests across application code, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines.
•Good understanding of cloud security practices, including Azure Key Vault, managed identities, access management, and logging and retention requirements.
•Ability to identify infrastructure drift, configuration inconsistencies, security risks, and deployment-related issues.
•Experience working with AI-assisted development tools and reviewing AI-generated code.
•Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, maintainability, code quality, and architectural consistency.
•Experience mentoring engineers, providing constructive code review feedback, and promoting consistent engineering standards across teams.
•Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a detail-oriented and collaborative approach to engineering.
