Senior Analyst-Data Analytics

In short

Senior Analyst role on American Express's US Consumer Marketing experimentation and analytics team, designing and analyzing experiments to measure marketing incrementality and optimize customer acquisition. Requires strong SQL/Python, statistics and A/B testing expertise, plus hands-on AI-assisted coding and agentic AI/LLM knowledge. Looks for someone comfortable with ambiguity who builds 0-to-1 analytical solutions and causal inference methods.

Sr Analyst/Analyst, US Consumer CXO Experimentation Analytics
The U.S. Consumer Marketing (USCM) team at American Express drives customer acquisition, engagement, and growth through data-driven marketing. Within USCM, the Marketing, Membership & Investment Optimization (MMIO) team leverages analytics, experimentation, and data science to optimize marketing investments and business outcomes.
We are seeking a Senior Analyst to advance experimentation and measurement capabilities through rigorous analytics, causal thinking, and AI-powered solutions. The ideal candidate is an AI-native, intellectually curious problem solver who thrives in ambiguity, builds solutions from 0 to 1, and translates complex analyses into measurable business impact.
Responsibilities
•Design, execute, and analyze experiments to measure incrementality, optimize marketing effectiveness, and improve prospect experiences across the end-to-end acquisition journey.
•Leverage experimentation, analytics, and causal reasoning to identify opportunities for personalized experiences, improved conversion, and customer acquisition growth.
•Translate complex analyses into actionable insights that shape marketing strategies, investment decisions, and prospect & customer journey optimization.
•Build AI-powered, scalable solutions: leverage AI tools and agentic workflows to develop reusable analytical frameworks, automate processes, and accelerate experimentation, insights, and decision-making.
•Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate ambiguous business challenges into analytical solutions and clear recommendations.
Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field (master's preferred), with 2+ years of relevant experience in analytics, data science, or experimentation.
•Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, including statistical analysis, large-scale data manipulation, and analytical coding.
•Solid foundation in statistics and experimentation, including A/B testing, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, statistical power, and experiment design.
•Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding and analytics tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Copilot, Codex), including the ability to validate AI-generated code and analytical outputs.
•Understanding of LLMs and agentic AI concepts, including prompting, APIs, tool/function calling, RAG, MCP, and agent workflows.
•Familiarity with machine learning fundamentals, including regression, classification, predictive modeling, and model evaluation.
•Strong problem-solving skills, ability to navigate ambiguity, independently drive end-to-end solutions, and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience with causal inference and advanced experimentation methods, including difference-in-differences, synthetic controls, propensity score methods, quasi-experimental designs, or incrementality measurement.
•Hands-on experience building AI agents or agentic analytical workflows, particularly for experimentation, data analysis, insight generation, or analytical automation.
•Demonstrated experience building 0-to-1 analytical solutions, reusable frameworks, or automation capabilities with measurable business impact.
•Experience in marketing measurement, digital experimentation, customer acquisition, or conversion optimization.
