Senior Project Manager
Location: Hampshire (onsite 5 days per week)
Due to the nature of the work and the customers we support, the successful candidate must be eligible to meet UK Government and contractual personnel security requirements, including the applicable residency requirements for the role, and have the right to work in the United Kingdom. Some roles may also be subject to nationality requirements where these are necessary to meet UK Government or contractual security obligations.
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager / Programme Manager to lead the end-to-end transition into a new programme within a complex IT service management environment. This is a senior, delivery-focused role requiring strong programme governance, customer engagement and operational leadership. The successful candidate will take ownership of transition planning and execution, ensuring contractual commitments, programme milestones, operational requirements and governance standards are met.
Responsibilities
•Provide end-to-end governance and leadership for transition into the new programme, ensuring activities are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations, Customer requirements and DXC standards.
•Establish and maintain an effective transition governance framework, including appropriate controls, reporting, escalation routes, quality gates and decision-making forums.
•Ensure transition activities remain aligned with the wider DXC programme and the Customer's strategic and operational objectives.
•Develop, baseline and maintain detailed transition schedules, ensuring key milestones, dependencies, critical-path activities and deliverables are understood and actively managed.
•Own the transition RAID framework, maintaining a comprehensive Risks, Actions, Issues and Decisions log.
•Drive risks and issues through to resolution, ensuring clear ownership, mitigation actions, target dates and appropriate escalation.
•Identify potential delivery blockers early and coordinate the appropriate SMEs and decision-makers to resolve them.
•Manage cross-functional dependencies between technical, operational, process, commercial and business workstreams.
•Undertake or coordinate deep-dive analysis where issues are complex, ensuring actions address root causes rather than symptoms.
•Act as the primary transition point of contact between the Customer and DXC, establishing trusted and effective working relationships across both organisations.
•Lead stakeholder engagement at project, programme and leadership levels, adapting communication appropriately for technical, operational and executive audiences.
•Chair and facilitate daily stand-ups, weekly programme synchronisation meetings, governance reviews and ad hoc working sessions.
•Ensure meetings and governance forums are outcome-focused, with decisions, owners and actions clearly captured and followed through.
•Drive operational alignment between programme workstreams and SMEs, ensuring teams understand how their deliverables contribute to successful transition.
•Proactively unblock delivery teams, bringing the appropriate stakeholders together to resolve cross-functional problems.
•Ensure all transition artefacts, plans, RAID items, decisions, approvals and supporting documentation are maintained within a controlled repository as the agreed single source of truth.
•Establish and maintain appropriate document control, versioning, approval and audit disciplines.
Requirements
•Strong project/programme management skills within complex IT environments.
•Good knowledge of ITIL, ITSM and service transition practices.
•Strong planning, RAID management, risk mitigation and issue-resolution capability.
•Excellent stakeholder management, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
•Ability to manage multiple workstreams, SMEs and cross-functional dependencies.
•Strong governance, reporting and documentation disciplines.
•Experience with tools such as MS Project, SharePoint and Teams.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a delivery-focused approach.
•High attention to detail, particularly around compliance, audit readiness and documentation.
•Proven experience as a Project Manager, Programme Manager, Delivery Lead or Service Management Lead within major ITSM transition or transformation programmes.
•Demonstrable experience delivering complex service transitions for major customers.
•Experience of walk-in takeover, service commencement or rapid transition programmes would be highly desirable.
•Experience leading cross-functional technical, process, service management and business teams.
•Strong background in structured governance, reporting, escalation and stakeholder management.
•Experience onboarding teams into new operating processes, quality gates and documentation standards.
•Experience within high-security, government, defence or regulated environments is desirable.
•Relevant project/programme management and ITIL qualifications would be advantageous.
