Product Owner - RDT Data Platforms
As a strategic Product Owner within RDT Data Platforms, you own the GUPRI Service (Globally Unique, Persistent, Resolvable Identifiers) end to end: its vision, roadmap, adoption and value. The GUPRI Service is Roche's enterprise identifier service which today is used by more than 50 global solutions. The role goes beyond backlog ownership. You connect leadership, consuming teams and technical delivery, and you prioritise initiatives for measurable value and alignment with enterprise data goals. You govern the service within enterprise service management platforms and manage the external vendor relationships, contracts and budgets that deliver it.
Description of the area
Data Management & Data Quality Platforms (under RDT Data Platforms) provide foundational services that make Roche data findable, connected and trustworthy. These include identifier management, terminology management and master data. They support FAIR data, the enterprise semantic layer and AI use cases across R&D, Commercial and Group functions. Many systems across the enterprise depend on these services, so reliability, governance and long-term stability matter as much as new features.
Responsibilities
•Scope / Content Leadership: Takes end-to-end responsibility for the daily management, operational excellence and continuous evolution of the GUPRI Service. Autonomously drives the roadmap and backlog, leads major initiatives such as platform re-architecture, cloud migration, API enablement and self-service improvements, and actively shapes the team's ways of working.
•Accountability / Problem Solving: Accountable for the service's adoption, reliability and value realisation. Owns the service policies and governance standards that consumers rely on. Governs the service within enterprise service management platforms, covering intake, the service catalogue, the support model, SLAs and incident and change processes. Proactively identifies and manages risks and dependencies.
•Stakeholder Management: Acts as the bridge between leadership, consuming teams and technical delivery. Builds strong relationships with source-system owners, data and analytics teams, governance forums and business stakeholders, and grows an active community of service consumers. Manages external vendor relationships, overseeing contract lifecycles, commercial agreements, budgets and deliverables.
•Impact / Strategy: Shapes the long-term roadmap so the service becomes a trusted, widely adopted enterprise capability. Prioritises initiatives by measurable value, such as reduced integration and curation effort, faster time-to-insight, compliance traceability and AI readiness, and supports the value case with evidence.
•Complexity / Product Size: Manages an enterprise-wide foundational service with many dependent consumers, where changes can have broad downstream impact. Handles complex interdependencies across platform engineering, source systems, governance bodies and third-party vendors. Weighs new features, policies and vendor agreements against both immediate needs and long-term enterprise implications.
•Business / Technical ability: Combines strong product and service management skills with a solid conceptual understanding of data platforms. Applies Agile principles, backlog prioritisation frameworks and enterprise service management tools effectively. Can engage credibly with engineers on APIs, integration and data architecture, and can explain technical foundations clearly to business audiences.
