Babbel

Product Manager - AI Content Creation

In short

Senior Product Manager role at Babbel Labs (Berlin, hybrid) owning the AI-driven content generation systems that turn language experts' teaching methods into learning content across languages. Requires 5+ years as a PM on complex digital products, hands-on experience shipping a generative AI product where GenAI is core to the functionality, and an AI-first personal working style. Involves close collaboration with engineering, language experts, and data teams to scale content generation while balancing automation and quality.

About
Babbel Labs is building the future of language learning. It's an AI-first, independent company within the Babbel group, based in Berlin. Teams bring AI, R&D and product together to ship experiences that set a new standard for how people learn.
Role
You'll own the content generation systems, with generative AI at their core: how language experts' way of teaching turns into learning content for every language combination. That includes the AI generation workflows themselves (prompting, evaluation and quality loops) and the human-in-the-loop processes around them. Success is measured by the speed of generating content across several languages and by content quality.
Babbel Labs owns the full arc of how people learn a language, and senior PMs grow by expanding across it. Starting from AI Content Generation, ownership can deepen or extend into other areas, such as conversational AI, adaptive learning, and scaling. Where you grow depends on where you do your best work — and the company invests in getting you there.
Responsibilities
•Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for AI content generation.
•Translate learners and reviewers needs, expert feedback, and business priorities into clear product opportunities, hypotheses, and initiatives.
•Lead the creation, improvement and scaling of AI generation workflows, including prompting, evaluation, and quality loops, to enable faster creation of new languages, levels, and learning content.
•Define what good generated content looks like and how it is evaluated, together with language experts and reviewers.
•Enable faster creation of new languages, levels, and learning content.
•Balance automation and quality, evolving human-in-the-loop processes where needed.
•Define success metrics and evaluate performance.
•Use quantitative data, qualitative research, competitive insights, learners insights, and reviewers feedback to guide prioritisation and decisions.
•Make clear prioritisation calls and manage trade-offs between learner value, business impact, technical feasibility, and speed.
•Partner closely with Engineering, Learning Content, Design, Data, and other Product Managers to align around a shared direction and deliver from discovery through launch and iteration.
•Communicate direction, evidence, decisions, and trade-offs clearly to senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
•Pick up the scope the company needs next — including delivery-heavy work such as platform expansion or subscriber migration — and run it with the same rigour.
Requirements
•5+ years as a Product Manager building complex digital products.
•Hands-on experience building and shipping at least one generative AI product, where GenAI is the core of the functionality, not a feature added on top.
•Able to follow a technical design discussion on prompts, models, evaluation and pipelines, and challenge it. Coding is not required.
•Experience working closely with engineers, experts, and data teams.
•Strong product judgment, a high bar for quality and a sharp focus on user outcomes, with genuine comfort in ambiguous, fast-evolving problem spaces — including deciding without complete information and changing your mind when the evidence moves.
•Excellent communication and stakeholder-alignment skills, including partnering closely with engineering leadership.
•Proactive, flexible, and curious, with the ability to drive progress from insight to execution.
•An AI-first way of working: already using AI agents throughout your own PM practice — drafting and evolving requirements, analysing data and user feedback, prototyping ideas yourself — not just for summaries and notes. Enthusiasm and demonstrated adoption matter more than knowing specific tools.
Nice to have:
•A track record of shipping at scale, to hundreds of thousands of active users or more.
•Exposure to learning products, localisation, or content and knowledge systems.
What's offered
•Work on a mission-driven product with global impact.
•Shape how AI is used responsibly in education.
•Collaborate with experienced product, engineering, and language experts.
•Flexible working models, learning budgets, and free language learning.
•An inclusive, supportive environment that values curiosity and growth.
