Causa Prima

Product Engineer, Treasury & Working Capital

In short

This role builds products where finance teams direct AI agents that negotiate early-payment terms, execute approved payments, and reconcile transactions across company boundaries. The company is Causa Prima, working at the intersection of finance and AI-driven software products, taking customer problems from prototype to production delivery with engineering. It demands practical finance experience (cash, working capital, payments, reconciliation, treasury, or accounting), the ability to translate financial processes into specs a developer can build, and fluent English; onsite full-time work in Madrid.

About the Role
You'll build products where finance teams set direction and AI agents act on financial data: negotiating early-payment terms, executing approved payments, and reconciling the results. You'll take customer problems through working prototypes to production delivery with engineering. At Causa Prima, we build AI agents that work across company boundaries. Extending a buyer's payment terms changes a supplier's cash position. Paying an invoice early can create value for both. You'll connect those decisions so improving one company's working capital doesn't just move the problem to another. You may have learned this domain in accounting, audit, advisory, or a finance team. Here, you'll turn that knowledge into digital products: speaking with customers, building prototypes, and working with developers to make them reliable.
Responsibilities
•Find the decision behind the dashboard. Work with finance teams to understand how they decide which obligations to meet, how much cash to retain, and when to use financing.
•Make working-capital products usable. Design how agents compare financing options and negotiate early-payment terms on real invoices. Define eligibility, costs, and what happens when an invoice is disputed or paid late.
•Connect forecasts to action. Design how agents detect liquidity gaps, evaluate financing options, and prepare payment plans for approval.
•Follow money through the whole workflow. Shape how agents execute approved payments, track settlement, and reconcile transactions to invoices and accounting records. Investigate the partial payment, missing reference, or stale bank feed that makes a tidy workflow fall apart.
•Prototype, test, and ship. Build prototypes with AI coding tools, test with users, and work with engineering on production delivery.
•Make the limits explicit. Define what agents can do within agreed policies, which actions require human approval, and how users can trace what happened. Measure financing uptake, reconciliation exceptions, and manual work removed.
Requirements
•Finance knowledge earned in practice. You've worked on cash, working capital, payments, or reconciliation in accounting, audit, advisory, treasury, or software. Show us the workflows and exceptions you've handled - credentials alone aren't the bar.
•Working-capital fluency. You understand how receivables, payables, financing, and payment timing affect cash. You can explain who funds the gap when a buyer extends terms. Bring depth in one area and connect it to the others.
•Evidence that you learn by building. You've learned unfamiliar tools to solve real problems and already use AI tools to automate work or build prototypes. Previous product or engineering titles aren't required.
•A bridge from finance to software. You can break a financial process into steps, data, rules, and exceptions a developer can build against. You learn technical concepts quickly and test the result with users.
•Customer-facing analytical judgment. You've investigated client or finance-user problems beyond the first explanation. You can explain financial tradeoffs clearly and change your recommendation when the evidence changes.
•Ownership through delivery. You've managed a project through to an implemented change, kept people aligned, and resolved the awkward details. You can point to what improved after your recommendation became practice.
•Fluent English. Spanish or German is a plus.
This is a wishlist, not a checklist. If the role excites you but you don't tick every box, we would encourage you to apply anyway.
Nice to Have
•Financing implementation experience. You've brought supply chain finance, dynamic discounting, factoring, or invoice financing into actual customer use.
•Banking and accounting integrations. You've worked with bank feeds, payment providers, or ERP reconciliation and dealt with their operational exceptions.
•(Agentic) product experience. You've helped turn a customer problem into a digital product. Experience with agents that act within defined policies and human approvals is a further plus.
