Responsibilities
•Lead the design and delivery of cloud and platform solutions for major client programmes
•Build trusted relationships with client technical and delivery stakeholders
•Act as the senior platform engineering representative in client meetings, workshops and governance forums
•Provide technical leadership during discovery, architecture, mobilisation and delivery phases
•Lead and mentor a team of platform engineers
•Define platform standards, engineering patterns and operational best practices
•Drive automation through Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines
•Ensure platforms are secure, resilient and compliant with client and regulatory requirements
•Support solution development, estimates, bid responses and technical assurance activities
•Collaborate with architects, engineering teams and programme leaders to resolve complex technical challenges
•Act as the escalation point for critical platform and infrastructure issues
•Drive continuous improvement, cost optimisation and operational excellence
Requirements
•The role requires Security Clearance or ability to get SC in short timescales
•Significant experience delivering cloud and platform solutions within complex enterprise environments (Azure / AWS)
•Demonstrable experience working directly with external clients and senior stakeholders
•Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills
•Experience leading technical workshops and architecture discussions
•Strong Azure expertise and cloud-native engineering experience
•Kubernetes, containerisation and modern platform engineering experience
•Strong knowledge of CI/CD, automation and Infrastructure as Code
•Experience operating within regulated, secure or mission-critical environments
•Strong communication and presentation skills
•Experience leading and developing engineering teams
Nice to have
•Experience delivering platform and cloud solutions within Government, Defence, Critical National Infrastructure or other highly regulated environments
•Strong understanding of DevSecOps, security-by-design and platform governance principles
•Experience with AWS and multi-cloud architectures
•Experience operating and governing Kubernetes platforms at enterprise scale
•Knowledge of modern observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry and Azure Monitor
•Experience designing and supporting hybrid cloud environments
•Familiarity with Internal Developer Platforms and self-service engineering models
•Experience leading large-scale cloud migration and application modernisation programmes
•Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and operational excellence practices
•Experience with enterprise networking, identity management and Zero Trust architectures
•Exposure to data and AI platforms
•Relevant industry certifications, such as Azure, AWS, Kubernetes or Terraform
