The Fairphone Software Engineering team is seeking an Open Source Software Engineer focused on AOSP and the Android ecosystem to reshape Fairphone's ambition on open sourcing. Open source is already part of Fairphone's mission and the company publishes a lot of source code of its devices, apps and services. The company wants to redefine how it engages with open source communities and partners and build a stronger relationship with them.
You will be the main driver behind this mission: you will shape the strategy for collaborating with open source contributors especially on device source trees. You will drive upstreaming activities towards AOSP but also community projects such as LineageOS. You will also work with current and future Android partners such as Murena, CalyxOS or Nura. Open sourcing is key to Fairphone's longevity strategy and therefore also directly feeds into its environmental and social impact goals.
You will report directly to the OS Longevity team Tech Lead, under the Head of Software Engineering, who reports to the CTO. You will work next to senior engineers who focus on different parts of the mobile Android and Linux software stack.
