About the position
As Lead Application & Product Architect (m/f/d), you take on a central technical role for our new cloud and AI solutions. You shape and are responsible for the architecture of these products and the overarching platform, and ensure that high implementation speed, AI-native development and technical excellence are sustainably combined. At the same time, you ensure that architecture decisions are compatible with Wolters Kluwer's security, compliance and governance requirements.
Your tasks
•You are responsible for the architecture of the new cloud and AI products as well as the overarching platform and ensure a consistent cloud-first, API-first and agentic-first orientation.
•You define architecture standards and technical guardrails and make architecture decisions with a view to scalability, maintainability, security, quality and technical risks.
•You analyze existing products, platforms and architectures and develop realistic evolution and migration paths, taking into account existing investments and technical dependencies.
•You are a technical sparring partner for product and engineering roles, conduct architecture, design and security reviews, and consistently represent technical decisions even in the face of differing stakeholder interests.
•You ensure that our solutions meet Wolters Kluwer's internal requirements for architecture, security, data protection, risk, compliance and governance, and work closely with the relevant control and governance functions for this purpose.
•Fluent German skills as well as very good English skills, written and spoken.
What excites us about you
•You have several years of experience as a Software Architect, Lead Architect or Principal Engineer and solid expertise in cloud-native architectures, APIs, microservices, distributed systems and integration architectures.
•You have experience with modern technology stacks, ideally Kotlin, Spring Boot, TypeScript and React, as well as with CI/CD, DevSecOps and automated quality gates.
•You have experience quickly understanding existing enterprise and legacy architectures and evolving them step by step.
•You are familiar with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Risk, Compliance and Architecture Governance and can integrate corresponding requirements into technical solutions at an early stage.
•You convince through strong communication and assertiveness skills: you can convey complex technical contexts in an understandable way, moderate controversial discussions based on facts, and uphold viable architecture decisions even under high delivery pressure.

Our Interview Practices
To maintain a fair and genuine hiring process, we kindly ask that all candidates participate in interviews without the assistance of AI tools or external prompts. Our interview process is designed to assess your individual skills, experiences, and communication style. We value authenticity and want to ensure we're getting to know you—not a digital assistant. To help maintain this integrity, we ask to remove virtual backgrounds and include in-person interviews in our hiring process. Please note that use of AI-generated responses or third-party support during interviews will be grounds for disqualification from the recruitment process.
Applicants may be required to appear onsite at a Wolters Kluwer office as part of the recruitment process.
