About
Dark Cloud Games is a Lisbon-based game studio developing AI-driven visual production technology. We are looking for a hands-on engineer to own applied research, technical solution design and implementation across generative imaging and 2D animation.
Responsibilities
•Investigate research, open-source models and repositories; assess alternatives and define practical technical approaches.
•Propose solution options, build and evaluate prototypes, and turn successful experiments into reliable, maintainable tools.
•Develop and integrate image generation/editing, visual consistency and 2D animation workflows.
•Improve local GPU inference, troubleshoot performance, test quality and document technical decisions.
Requirements
•4+ years of professional software development, including evidence of independently delivering technically complex work.
•Bachelor's degree (Licenciatura), preferably in a technology-related field; if obtained abroad, it must already be recognised in Portugal via DGES, where required.
•Strong Python, Git and software integration skills (APIs, debugging, testing, Linux environments).
•Practical experience with generative AI or computer vision workflows (e.g., PyTorch, Hugging Face/Diffusers, ComfyUI or equivalent).
•Confident use of AI-assisted engineering tools (Codex, Claude Code, Cursor or similar), with the judgment to verify their output.
•Curiosity, ownership, sound technical decision-making and ability to work with English-language technical resources.
Nice to have
•Fine-tuning/LoRA, diffusion models, image segmentation, identity consistency, CUDA/VRAM optimization, multi-GPU systems, rigging or 2D animation pipelines.
Conditions
•€40,000–€55,000 gross annually, depending on experience.
•Full-time, fully on-site in Lisbon.
