About the Role
Seven Education develops an intelligent, AI-powered platform that helps schools and educational institutions work more efficiently. Our products reduce administrative tasks, improve communication, and enable teachers, institutions, and education leaders to focus on what really matters: learning, growth, and people. As a European EdTech group with more than 250 employees, we build intuitive, scalable solutions that make everyday life easier for schools and educational institutions. As Senior Finance Manager, you build the accounting standard that turns ten entities in six countries into one group.
Responsibilities
•You are responsible for the ongoing accounting quality of the German and Austrian entities and actively support the monthly closes.
•You gradually move manual workarounds in the close, for example for revenue recognition, provisions, and accruals, into NetSuite.
•You build central, documented standard processes for all entities, for example for bank reconciliation, accounts payable, and recurring closing entries.
•You develop Payhawk further, from receipt recognition, cost centers, and approval logic to the interface with NetSuite, and drive the selection and introduction of a travel tool.
•You automate reconciliations, analyses, and recurring entries using the tools we already have.
•You turn volumes of data that used to be a hurdle into a resource that we can analyze and use for decision-making.
•You prepare the data for transfer pricing, including service and cost flows as well as intercompany loans for each entity, provide it to our external advisors, and embed the agreed logic in the systems.
•You contribute to the IFRS gap analysis and implement the topics where local GAAP and IFRS differ.
•You lead the accounting side of the post-merger integration of new entities, from chart-of-accounts mapping and the opening balance sheet to NetSuite onboarding.
•You coordinate tax advisors, auditors, and banks across national borders.
Requirements
•You have practical accounting experience and have prepared at least one annual financial statement with genuine responsibility, not just audited or reviewed one.
•Ideally, you have worked in a multi-entity or international environment.
•You have a good knowledge of German commercial law and accounting under HGB.
•You independently retrieve and check data from the ERP, without going through IT or Controlling, and build your own analyses in Excel at a modeling level.
•You speak and write German and English fluently, including in negotiations with advisors, auditors, and banks.
•You already use AI in your day-to-day work, for example for data analysis or automation, or learn quickly.
•You critically review results before using them further.
•You bring topics to completion rather than just preparing them, keep several topics in view at the same time, set clear priorities, and prefer to fix errors directly rather than pass them on.
•You work from goals and context rather than task lists, share responsibility with the Director Finance without waiting for assignments, and persuade local managing directors, advisors, and auditors even without formal authority.
Conditions
•We work in a hybrid model: you can work remotely with flexibility, but you are also regularly in our Berlin office several days a week. Personal interaction in the office is an important part of our collaboration.
•At Seven Education, you actively shape the future of education in Europe and help sustainably improve everyday life at schools.
•You have two paid days per year for volunteering.
•Flexible working hours, hybrid working models, and remote work within the EU, Switzerland, and the UK are an integral part of how we work.
•Dedicated learning time, access to learning platforms, German and English courses, and continuous development opportunities support your personal and professional development.
•You work in a supportive, collaborative environment characterized by trust, openness, and team spirit.
•A team-building budget is available for workshops and joint events.
•You have the opportunity to take on responsibility, help shape structures, and grow together with a company that combines a start-up mentality with the ambition to build a leading European software group.
•30 days of vacation, half days off on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, and dog-friendly offices are part of what we offer.
