Responsibilities
•Own the department's roadmap and decide where to invest
•Run technology face-offs and make the case for technical decisions
•Manage the day-to-day work of a small team
•Handle help-desk-level tickets when needed
•Persuade teams across the company to adopt the infrastructure being built
•Turn feedback about infrastructure into roadmap decisions
Requirements
•Be technically credible and able to pass the architecture challenge
•Have experience with AWS, GCP, the company's own data center, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Python
•Be comfortable owning a roadmap and making technical decisions
•Communicate effectively and persuade cross-functional teams
•Be willing to grow into management; startup, small-team, or adjacent-industry experience is preferred over experience in big tech with an established roadmap
•Not suitable for candidates seeking a handed-down roadmap, avoiding hands-on work, or becoming defensive in response to infrastructure feedback
•Candidates with 3–6 years of solely people-management experience are not sought
Nice to have
•Startup or small, fast-moving team experience
•Comfort being the most senior technical voice without being the most senior architect
•Experience turning infrastructure complaints into roadmap decisions
