About the Role
At VIVO Defence Services, we deliver essential infrastructure and facilities management services across the UK Defence estate. We're looking for a Data Engineer and Power Platform Developer to create solutions that simplify how our colleagues work and improve the services we deliver to customers. This is a hands-on opportunity to combine Power Platform development with data engineering, taking solutions from initial discovery through to live use and ongoing improvement.
Responsibilities
•Collaborate with business users to understand process challenges and translate their needs into clear solution designs, development priorities and acceptance criteria.
•Design, build and support canvas and model-driven Power Apps, Power Automate workflows and Dataverse solutions.
•Focus on accessible, intuitive experiences, supported by reusable components and consistent development standards.
•Build and maintain data pipelines, models and integrations using Microsoft Fabric, Azure and SQL.
•Connect solutions to Microsoft 365 and relevant business systems, improving data quality, consistency and traceability.
•Apply appropriate security controls, testing, documentation, source control and deployment practices, contributing to Power Platform governance and environment management.
•Once solutions are live, diagnose issues, support users and monitor adoption and performance.
•Use feedback to refine solutions and ensure they continue to meet business needs.
Requirements
•Practical experience delivering Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse solutions into live use, alongside experience in data engineering, SQL and integrating information from multiple sources.
•Comfortable working directly with users, taking ownership of a business problem and following it through to a solution that people can confidently use.
•Strong knowledge of Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse and Microsoft 365 integration.
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Azure and SQL.
•Experience building, maintaining and improving applications and automated workflows.
•Understanding of application security, environment management, testing, deployment and support.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a practical focus on user needs.
•Clear communication with technical and non-technical colleagues.
•Attention to detail and a commitment to secure, sustainable and supportable solutions.
•Must hold, or be willing to obtain, the security clearance required to work within Defence environments.
Nice to Have
•Knowledge of APIs, middleware, Azure integration services and application lifecycle management.
•Experience in facilities management, Defence, asset-intensive services or another regulated environment.
•A relevant degree or technical qualification is desirable, although practical professional experience is equally valued.
Conditions
•Competitive salary and benefits package that recognises the experience and expertise you bring.
•Open to conversations about flexible working days and hours, including a four-day working week, considering individual circumstances alongside business and customer needs.
•The role is hybrid/home-based, with some travel across the UK.
•Occasional flexibility may be needed to support important releases, incidents or operational deadlines.
