About the opportunity
Join our Molecular Assay Development team in Manchester (on-site) and use bioinformatics to help turn complex biological data into insights that support the development of molecular diagnostic products and platforms. Working alongside experienced bioinformaticians and scientists from around the world, you will analyse digital PCR, next-generation sequencing (NGS) and image-based datasets, develop computational tools and contribute to multidisciplinary assay-development projects.
Your tasks
•Develop and document bioinformatics tools and workflows to improve data analysis and support molecular assay and product development.
•Analyse genomic, transcriptomic and other biological datasets, ranging from focused studies to larger-scale datasets, using appropriate computational and bioinformatics approaches.
•Visualise and interpret digital PCR, NGS and image-based data, translating complex results into clear, actionable scientific insights.
•Plan and coordinate bioinformatics studies, including preparing protocols, documenting analyses and communicating findings to relevant stakeholders.
•Apply current bioinformatics methods and technologies to ongoing projects and sharing knowledge and good practice across the team.
•Support reproducible bioinformatics workflows, maintaining data integrity and clear analysis documentation.
•Work within applicable design-control, quality and regulatory requirements throughout assay and product development.
Your profile
•A Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or a related discipline, with relevant practical bioinformatics experience.
•Hands-on experience analysing biological data, ideally including genomics, NGS datasets.
•Experience using data analysis, data visualisation and bioinformatics tools to investigate complex datasets and communicate findings.
•Knowledge of human genetics, genomics and/or infectious disease would be advantageous.
•Familiarity with relevant bioinformatics databases, such as dbSNP or COSMIC, would be beneficial.
•Experience developing, documenting or improving computational workflows or analysis tools, with an understanding of reproducibility and data integrity.
•Able to communicate complex analytical findings clearly to scientific and multidisciplinary colleagues.
