About the Team
The team builds and scales Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) capabilities and develops secure, cloud-native backend systems that power customer-facing financial products and services.
Responsibilities
•Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs
•Produce clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-documented code
•Build highly available, resilient, and scalable microservices
•Develop event-driven solutions using modern messaging technologies
•Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical decisions
•Develop and deploy applications in AWS cloud environments
•Support containerised workloads using Kubernetes and Docker
•Contribute to infrastructure automation and DevOps best practices
•Ensure observability, monitoring, and operational excellence across services
•Work with Product Managers, Engineers, QA Engineers, Designers, and Business Stakeholders
•Participate in Agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and technical refinement sessions
•Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
•Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering teams
•Act as a subject matter expert within the engineering team
•Mentor junior developers and support knowledge sharing
•Promote engineering standards, code review best practices, and software craftsmanship
•Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the backend engineering chapter
Requirements
•Strong commercial experience with Java development
•Deep knowledge of Spring Boot and/or Micronaut
•Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices
•Strong understanding of software design patterns and distributed systems
•Experience with AWS services and cloud-native architectures
•Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker
•Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka and event-driven systems
•Experience working in Agile delivery environments
•Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities
Nice to Have
•Financial services, fintech, or regulated industry experience
•Experience building highly secure applications
•CI/CD pipeline development and automation expertise
•Observability tooling, monitoring and logging platforms
•Understanding of data-driven product development and analytics
Conditions
•12-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension
