# AI Software Engineer
The Opportunity
Hitachi Energy delivers some of the world's largest and most complex power transmission projects. As project volumes continue to grow, we are investing in software, data, automation, and artificial intelligence to transform how engineering work is performed across our HVDC business.
As an AI Software Engineer, you will join the newly established AI Center of Competence team focused on developing the next generation of digital engineering solutions.
You will work directly with engineers and domain experts to understand real engineering challenges and develop practical solutions that improve efficiency, quality, and scalability. From rapid prototyping to production-ready applications, you'll help shape how AI and software are applied across the engineering organization.
How you'll make an impact
•Develop software and AI solutions that improve engineering efficiency, quality, and scalability.
•Work directly with engineers and domain experts to automate workflows and reduce manual effort.
•Transform information from engineering systems, documents, models, and databases into connected and actionable data.
•Develop applications, integrations, and services that improve how engineering information is accessed and used.
•Apply AI technologies, including Large Language Models, to solve practical engineering challenges.
•Translate complex engineering problems into scalable software solutions and production-ready applications.
•Help drive the adoption of AI, automation, and modern software technologies across HVDC Engineering.
Your Background
•Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or similar.
•Proven experience working with APIs, system integrations, databases, structured data, and modern software architectures.
•Experience or practical knowledge of modern AI technologies, including Large Language Models, Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or AI agent frameworks.
•Programming skills in Python and experience with technologies such as C#, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate ambiguous challenges into practical and scalable technical solutions.
•Ability to collaborate closely with internal engineers and learn unfamiliar technical domains.
