About the Role
Currys is a UK technology retailer that helps customers enjoy technology. Its Tech and Transformation team builds AI-powered solutions across stores, supply chain, contact centres and corporate teams, using analytics, AI and automation to simplify work, improve decisions and unlock new opportunities.
Responsibilities
•Build and maintain data pipelines that process billions of events daily across batch and streaming systems
•Develop AI-powered solutions, including intelligent agents using Databricks Agent Bricks, to improve productivity
•Set up infrastructure as code for data and AI platforms, keeping them scalable and reproducible
•Create monitoring and alerting systems to protect data quality, model performance and pipeline reliability
•Optimise data processing jobs to improve performance and reduce costs
•Partner with product and domain teams to deliver new data features and agent-driven tools
•Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for data and AI applications
•Troubleshoot production issues and apply permanent fixes to prevent recurrence
•Contribute to shared engineering standards and best practices across the team
•Maintain reliable, scalable and future-ready data and AI infrastructure
•Collaborate with platform and operations teams to maintain robust, high-performance analytical pipelines
Requirements
•Strong experience building production-grade data pipelines at scale with real business impact
•Confidence with Python and SQL, and hands-on use of data processing frameworks in live environments
•Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or GCP and containerisation technologies
•Knowledge of streaming technologies and event-driven architectures
•Practical experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
•Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve root causes
•Experience with Databricks, Snowflake or similar data platforms
•A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience
Nice to Have
•Interest or experience in building AI-powered solutions, hands-on experience with Databricks Agent Bricks
•Cloud certifications, DevOps, data engineering or AI engineering certifications
